Photonic Networks Ltd

About Us

Photonic Networks was created to serve the people and businesses of Bradford who are mainly living or working in the city centre where traditional broadband speeds are low.

Whether your need is for a small, wireless network for an H.M.O environment or a guest network for a large multi-use venue, we aim to provide a fast and reliable broadband service. Our core systems are monitored 24/7 and should any problems arise an engineer will be on hand to help. For our managed access for residential sites, landlords are able to log into our website to check the progress of fault reports or to monitor the service log for their site. We are happy to discuss your requirements and provide advice and guidance as to the options available to you, taking into account your needs and budget.

Managed Broadband for Student Halls

For some time now the systems being installed in student halls have been overpriced, have single points of failure and buckle under heavy loads. Photonic Networks Ltd has changed this by offering our no-stop system as standard for our bigger customers. Instead of risking a single part causing a catastrophic failure we mirror key parts of our access systems. If one part was to fail, the intelligent system would route around the issue, transferring the load to a backup controller and automatically notifying Photonic Networks that a failure had occurred and a new part was required. The part can then be changed during office hours and users are unaware that a problem existed.

Compare this to the traditional reactive approach conducted by many other student halls’ ISPs. Can you afford for your halls to be offline for hours/days while an engineer is sent out?

Photonic Networks has recognised the importance of providing a fast and reliable internet service with a system that has built in redundancy.

Leadership Team

CEO – Jonathan Dixon

Jon has always been very interested in computing technology since a very young age. In 2006, he began work on his university project – which was to discover a better and more efficient way to bring internet to student halls and houses. His project went further than he could have ever imagined – it turned into a fully fledged business! As well as running the company, designing and working on all installs and helping provide technical support, Jon is busy innovating and designing ever more efficient and reliable systems.

Jon never stops working to make the company and the services even better. He is thoroughly dedicated to bringing the best internet possible to everyone.

He completed his BSc in Computer Systems Administration with a 2:1 (hons) at Bradford University in 2008 and completed an MSc Masters by Research with the research area of “wireless metropolitan area networks” 2 years later.

Most of Jon’s life is taken up by business, but on the occasional times off, he enjoys gaming online and a bit of snowboarding.
